Panalangin kay San Juan Maria Vianney

As we commemorate this year the patron of all pastors, and soon, of all priests, let us turn once more to Saint John Mary Vianney, asking for his intercession, that we may be good shepherds imbued with a deep love for Jesus and a sincere concern for the flock.

PANALANGIN KAY SAN JUAN MARIA VIANNEY

San Juan Maria Vianney,
ipanalangin mo kami!

Walang kawalang pag-asa,
paghihirap o pagsubok ang humadlang sa iyo;
walang pag-uusig, pagdaralita o pagtitiis
ang kailanman nakasiphayo
sa iyong nag-aapoy na pagnanasang maglingkod.

Sapagkat ini-ugat mo ang iyong sarili
sa isang matibay at matatag na saligan-
sa taimtim na pananatili kasama si Hesus
na siyang pinagmumulan ng iyong lakas
at kumakatig maging sa iyong karupukan at kahinaan.

Turuan mo kami at tulungan
sapagkat mahirap ang aming mga panahon.
Maraming pagsubok at pangamba

Amen.

Jubilee Prayer to Saint John Vianney

Jubilee Prayer to Saint John Vianney
For the Jubilee Year of Priests 2009-2010
French original from www.arsnet.org

Amen.

(English)

Saint John Vianney, you have shown the “way to heaven” to many souls, show us the way of friendship and life with the Father.

Help us to taste the happiness which is found in knowing Jesus Christ, in loving him and in making him loved. Like you, may we discover the joy of living in the grace of the Holy Spirit, and hence to follow him confidently in faith.

Teach us to love and to celebrate, always and even more, the sacraments of reconciliation and the Eucharist. It is there that we truly encounter the Lord for us to grow in true freedom and be able to help others to be holy. May his presence in the Blessed Sacrament draw us, fills us and become for each one of us a source of consolation.

Help us to discover the Word of God as a light for our time and a guide for us in loving and serving our brethren, especially the poor and little ones, with joy.

You are the “patron of all parish priests of the world” and a model full of love for each priest, we come to entrust them and to pray for them; keep them in peace and fidelity to the Church.

Holy Priest of Ars, help us to become, always and more and more, witnesses of God’s love. Increase in us the desire to become saints. Amen.

(Filipino)

Amen.

Holy Hour for the Year of Priests and the Year of the Two Hearts

The Year 2009-2010 has been declared as the Year for Priests by Pope Benedict XVI. Coinciding with this celebration, the CBCP has also called for the observance of the "Year of the Two Hearts for Peace-Building and Lay Participation in Social Change" in view of the coming National Presidential Elections.

For this twice special year, the Archdiocese of Manila has prepared a Holy Hour (with three sets of readings) to be used especially on First Friday devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and First Saturday devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
A central activity of the Year for Priests and Year of the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Archdiocese of Manila will therefore be the Holy Hour on First Fridays (with adoration to First Saturdays) in all parishes and chapels beginning on the first Friday of July. We present to you the Holy Hour Liturgy to be used for these First Friday Holy Hour and Adoration to First Saturdays. Our intentions, prayers and reflections are mindful of the exhortation of the Holy Father for the need to pray for priests and their sanctification so that they may ever more fervently mirror the life of Jesus Christ. The Holy Hour (and Adoration) is also aimed at instilling greater spiritual growth among the faithful by heightening their devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Let this period dedicated by the Church for the Sanctification of Priests inflame in us and in all the faithful under our care a deeper love for Jesus and His most Sacred Heart, full of trust on Mary, His Mother, and our Mother, too, that she will constantly and lovingly guide us to Her Son.

Without Sunday We Cannot Live

WITHOUT SUNDAY, WE CANNOT LIVE

A Pastoral Letter on the Sunday Celebration of the Eucharist

Archdiocese of Manila

Introduction

1. “Without Sunday, we cannot live.” This was the firm declaration of the second century Abythinian Martyrs. The early Christians called Sunday or the first day of the week the “Lord’s Day”. It was the day when the Lord, having risen from the dead, appeared to his disciples gathered in assembly. The familiar story of the two disciples making their way to Emmaus on the day of the resurrection (Lk 24: 13-35) confirms the Church’s belief that on Sunday Jesus manifests himself in a special way to the liturgical assembly through the preaching of the word and the sacramental signs of bread and wine.

2. The two disciples went on a journey from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Their journey was not without any destination: they were fleeing back to their home in Emmaus after the

tragic events that befell Jesus in Jerusalem. They were running away from Jerusalem, the city of suffering and defeat. Had they known earlier that Christ had been raised from the dead, their courage and hope could have also been raised. We too are subject to the fear of suffering and defeat. We experience too our own Jerusalem. Like the disciples we need to experience the power of the resurrection.

Prayer for the Year for Priests (Filipino and English)

Prayer for the Year for Priests

A translation of the prayer of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI before the relic of the heart of Saint John Vianney

on the occasion of the Inauguration of the Year for Priests, June 19, 2009

Lord Jesus,

you willed to give to your Church

in Saint John Mary Vianney,

a most moving image of your pastoral charity;

grant that, together with him and following his example,

we may celebrate to the fullest

this Year for Priests.

Grant that,

sustained like him before the Eucharist,

we may be able to impart with the same simplicity,

your word that it teaches us everyday;

to possess the same charity

with which he accompanied repentant sinners,

consoled by a trusting abandon to your Immaculate Mother.

Grant, O Lord,

that through the intercession of the Holy Cure of Ars

the Christian family may truly be a “little Church”

able to welcome and nourish all the vocations and charisms

imparted by the Spirit.

Lord Jesus, enable all of us

to say with the same ardent love

the words which the Holy Parish Priest himself

often addressed to you:

“I love you, O my God,

and my only desire is to love you

until the last breath of my life.

I love you, O my infinitely lovable God,

and I would rather die loving you,

that live a single moment without loving you.”

I love you Lord,

and the only grace I ask of you,

is to love you for eternity.

O my God,

if my tongue cannot always say that I love you

allow my heart to repeat it to you as often as I draw breath.

I love you, O Divine Savior,

because you were crucified for me,

and now you hold me here, crucified with you.

O my God,

grant me the grace to die loving you,

and knowing that I love you.”

Amen.

Panalangin Para sa Taon ng Mga Pari

Panginoong Hesus,
minarapat mong ipagkaloob sa iyong Simbahan
sa katauhan ni San Juan Maria Vianney
ang isang malinaw na larawan
ng iyong pagkalinga sa amin bilang pastol;
itulot mo na kapiling niya at sang-ayon sa kanyang halimbawa,
maipagdiwang namin nang ganap
ang Taong ito ng mga Pari.

Itulot mo nawa,
ang iyong salitang nagtuturo sa amin;
at taglayin ang pag-ibig niyang
umagapay sa mga makasalanang nagbabalik-loob;

Itulot mo Poong Hesus,

"Iniibig kita, O aking Diyos,

'Iniibig kita'.

Iniibig kita,
O aking Poong Tagapagligtas,
sapagkat para sa akin ay nabayubay ka,
at tangan mo ako ngayong
nakapako sa piling mo.

O Diyos ko,
itulot mo sa akin ang biyayang mamatay
nang umiibig at
umiibig nang lubos sa iyo."

Amen.
