Sacramentum Caritatis

I just learned through the Vatican website that the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI has issued a Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation on the Eucharist entitled Sacramentum Caritatis last 22 February 2007, Feast of the Chair of Peter Apostle.

Even before his first encyclical Deus Caritas Est, there had been rumors that the Pope will be issuing a document on the implementation of the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council. Most of us know that before ascending to the papacy, he was a well-published author not only in the field of systematic theology but even in theology of the liturgy.

The document then is a promising read to all of us, especially in this season when we commemorate the very source of this most Holy Sacrament which is truly no other than the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ who offered his life for us on the Cross. Thank you Holy Father!
